Research topics

My main research topic relates to the links between farming practices, biodiversity and resilience of agroecosystems. Through a variety of dynamic models and case studies I focus more specifically on the two following questions:

1. What are the links between agricultural production and biodiversity in agroecosystems.
This first series of studies relates to both biodiversity providing ecosystem services and patrimonial biodiversity. Case studies related to this question include : wader conservation in the Atlantic marshlands (France) and cacao production in Central Sulawesi  (Indonesia).

2. What is the link between agroecosystem dynamics and resilience related properties.
This second series of studies relates to the quantification of robustness, resistance, flexibility and adaptability of agroecosystems. Case studies related to this question include : temperate grassland of Southcentral Wisconsin (USA), Steppe of outer Mongolia, rangeland systems of Southern Africa and  cacao agroforestry in Central Sulawesi  (Indonesia).

Informations

My current research project aims at studying the multi scale trade-offs between production and ecological dimensions of agrolandscapes at rainforest margin in Central Sulawesi  (Indonesia). The aim of this project is to develop a dynamic model linking management practices at field scale and landscape caracteristics to economic and ecological dimension.

This research is conducted in the Department of Ecosystem Modelling of the Goettingen University

Activity :
My PhD aims at studying the conciliation of productive and ecological objectives within the case study of a grassland agro-ecosystem. This work is based on a (temporal and spatial) multi-scale model that relies on the mathematical framework of the viability theory.
